  • how your business decisions can impact financial performance and solve operational weaknesses

Sales professionals needing a better understanding:

  • how to identify strategic business needs
  • how your solutions improve the operational and financial performance of your clients
  • how business cases are developed, assessed and prioritised

Fast-track managers

  • being groomed for increased P&L responsibility

Overview

In this workshop, you’ll work as part of the management team tasked with improving the performance of a business. Using a sophisticated business simulation, you’ll start by assessing the performance of your predecessors. You’ll quickly see that while the financial results look reasonable at first sight, they camouflage weaknesses in a number of areas.

You and your colleagues will need to make numerous financial and operational decisions to address these weaknesses and improve performance in key areas of the business. You’ll see and feel how the money works through the company’s value chain and what impact your decisions have on the bottom line at the end of each year.

Along the way, you’ll learn how to build and analyse the profit & loss, balance sheet and cash-flow statements for the business. You’ll assess performance by calculating profitability and operational ratios.

Comments from participants on previous workshops

One of the best courses I’ve been on. The (Profit Storm®) board game is a great way to bring this whole piece to life in an easy to understand context. And you deliver it well.

Paul A Digby, National Manager, Sales Development & Coaching, Optus Business

Excellent content and very practical, useful learning of financial metrics, important ratios, how to analyse financial statements and align our sales to financial KPIs

Sean Greig, NSW Sales Manager, Business Applications, Fujitsu ANZ

An excellent introduction to understanding the impact of financial and operational decisions on the company’s overall performance. Well presented and very educational.

Roshan Ramnarain, General Manager, The Smart Group

The simulation of business accounting (Profit Storm®) was both fun and a good learning experience.

Marie Huttley-Jackson, Business Development Executive, Fuji Xerox Global Services

I’ve gained a much better understanding of how the ‘what-ifs’ can impact business. A great overview.

Gavin Symons, Business Service Manager, QBE Insurance

Very effective lead-in to what can be a complicated, ‘smoke and mirrors’ topic.
